1. His birth name: Michel Eid Samaha,
2. His father: Eid son of Elias son of Hanna son of Moussa Samaha, from the Ghosoub lineage.
3. His brothers: Rashid, Jamil, Nassib, Youssef, Shahid, Wadii, Hanna, and Nouhad.
• He was appointed a Patriarchal Exarch in Russia from 1948 to 1958.
• He was elected in 1960 as a bishop in Horan, Daraa, Suwayda, and Jabal al-Arab in Syria,
• He was then appointed as the Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of Horan, Daraa, Suwayda, and Jabal al-Arab until his death in 2002.
• Holder of the following medals:
1. The Al-Mahdi Medal from the Prime Minister of the Syrian Republic, Mr. Saeed Al-Ghazzi.
2. The Al-Mahdi Medal from the late President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
3. Several other medals from Greece, Lebanese President Camille Chamoun, and Syrian President Nour al-Din al-Atassi.
4. And other numerous medals and commendations.
• He has several published books in Arabic, including:
1. Ten Years of Spiritual Relations between the Antiochian and Russian Churches.
2. From the glow of the battle (during the June War of 1968).

• Specializing in higher military sciences, graduated from the St. Cyr University – Paris, and in higher staff sciences from Paris.
• Worked as a personal assistant to General de Gaulle during the French Mandate in Lebanon and during World War II.
• He is one of the founders of the Lebanese Army after independence, in collaboration with General Fouad Chehab.
• Holder of the following medals:
1. The Lebanese National Cedar Medal
2. The Lebanese Order of Merit
3. The Medal of Honor for the Palestine War
4. And other numerous medals and commendations,
• He also received special recognition from General de Gaulle and was awarded the French Legion of Honor, Commander rank.
• He received the Allied Medal and the American Distinguished Service Medal after World War II.
• He was appointed Inspector General in the Lebanese Army,
• Appointed as the President of the Military Court,
• Founded and headed several brigades in the Lebanese Army,
• He was appointed as a military attaché with the rank of ambassador in France, Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands, and other Western European countries.

1. Dr. Hala Kfoury Kassouf: A physician specialized in pathology, professor at the American University Hospital, president of the Lebanese Society of Pathology, and president of the Arab branch of the International Academy of Pathology.
2. Wissam, an electrical engineer graduate of the United States and the American University of Beirut,
3. Ghada, a dentist graduate of the St Joseph University,
4. Rania, a Doctor of Pharmacy, a graduate of the Lebanese American University, works at Walgreens in the United States.
He was chosen by the Ford Foundation from among ten students from around the world; he applied for this scholarship alongside 200 others from Lebanon and was the only Lebanese accepted to pursue his higher education in Denmark for four years.
He was awarded a certificate of appreciation from the Danish government that read, "Congratulations to Lebanon for having Melhem Kfoury."
He held several positions, including Director of the Lebanese Artisan House, affiliated with the Social Welfare Department.
He visited more than 40 countries during his tenure to participate in international exhibitions where he showcased Lebanese crafts. He was active in charitable organizations and served as a representative from several countries to distribute aid to those in need during the Civil War.
